HIPAA does not apply to Contrada. It is a personal tool for a family, not a healthcare provider or a health plan, and Kindra App LLC is not a covered entity. We say that plainly because some apps imply coverage they do not have. Our commitments come from the privacy policy and from how the product is built.

It travels over an encrypted connection and is encrypted at rest. Access rules are enforced by the database itself, not only by the app. Contrada does not use end-to-end encryption, which means our infrastructure could in principle reach stored records. The privacy policy explains the limits in full.

The vault holds copies for quick access, so keep your originals. A second stored copy and recovery of a document deleted by mistake are being built and tested before any family uploads a real document.

No. It is not a medical device, it does not connect to a hospital or clinic record system, and it does not replace your care team.
